Hello!
Decided to try and be a little bit more organized about things for July, especially as I am finally back at work on the 6th (which I am more excited for than I ever thought possible). I’m still working away on the IFA Summer challenge – and there will be more mini reviews up tomorrow – but as I am reading on a whim with regards to that one, which is fun, because I never really know what I am getting in to. So, this tbr is going to be from the tower (aka. bookshelves) of books that I have been meaning to get to for ages now.
At the moment I am currently reading:
- The Burning God (The Poppy War #3) – R.F.Kuang (netgalley e-arc)
- The Story of Silence – Alex Meyers (netgalley e-arc)
- Warbreaker – Brandon Sanderson (audiobook)
- The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock – Imogen Hermes Gowar (audiobook)
- Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee – Dee Brown (audiobook)
- Northern Wrath – Thilde Kold Holdt (netgalley e-arc)
- The Bone Shard Daughter – Andrea Stewart (netgalley e-arc)
- To Sleep in a Sea of Stars – Christopher Paolini (netgalley e-arc)
- The House of Styx – Derek Künsken (netgalley e-arc)

July TBR
The Fifth Season (The Broken Earth #1) – N.K. Jemisin
Book Summary:
This is the way the world ends. Again.
Three terrible things happen in a single day. Essun, a woman living an ordinary life in a small town, comes home to find that her husband has brutally murdered their son and kidnapped their daughter. Meanwhile, mighty Sanze — the world-spanning empire whose innovations have been civilization’s bedrock for a thousand years — collapses as most of its citizens are murdered to serve a madman’s vengeance. And worst of all, across the heart of the vast continent known as the Stillness, a great red rift has been been torn into the heart of the earth, spewing ash enough to darken the sky for years. Or centuries.
Now Essun must pursue the wreckage of her family through a deadly, dying land. Without sunlight, clean water, or arable land, and with limited stockpiles of supplies, there will be war all across the Stillness: a battle royale of nations not for power or territory, but simply for the basic resources necessary to get through the long dark night. Essun does not care if the world falls apart around her. She’ll break it herself, if she must, to save her daughter.

The Golem and the Djinni – Helene Wecker
Book Summary:
In The Golem and the Jinni, a chance meeting between mythical beings takes readers on a dazzling journey through cultures in turn-of-the-century New York.

Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire born in the ancient Syrian desert, trapped in an old copper flask, and released in New York City, though still not entirely free.
Ahmad and Chava become unlikely friends and soul mates with a mystical connection. Marvelous and compulsively readable, Helene Wecker’s debut novel The Golem and the Jinni weaves strands of Yiddish and Middle Eastern literature, historical fiction and magical fable, into a wondrously inventive and unforgettable tale.

So, here we are the 10 books I ‘definitely’ plan to read for July. I will also be reading ‘The Black Song’ (Raven’s Blade #2) by Anthony Ryan when it is released at the end of the month, but since it’s not already on my shelf (although it is preordered) it isn’t on this list, and no doubts I will pick up others in between. Let me know if you’ve read any of these, if you plan to read them and any recommendations (because if I put a dent in the tbr, I have to fill it again – that’s the rule).

Wow, you read a lot of books at the same time! The most I can manage is 3. I have The Golem & the Jinni on my list; I’m thinking August for me. Can’t wait to see what you think of it!
