Book Summary:

Jack Glennison: a failed scholar, a frustrated policeman, a discharged soldier… and now a private detective about to get out of his depth.

When a glamorous blonde arrives at Glennison’s less-than-glamorous Manchester office, her missing person case has “straying husband” written all over it. But Jack’s investigation soon takes an unexpected turn and he finds himself on a steamer bound for half-forgotten Darkisle in the Irish Sea. Here he finds himself confronting both dark forces and his own forgotten past.

A gritty 1920s detective story that spirals into the realms of Lovecraftian Horror, The Gathering of Shadows will delight fans of the genre as they travel with Glennison from the stolid certainty of 1920s England to a world of lost temples, ancient gods, whispered chants and terrifying visitations.

About the Author:

Hello! Here’s a photo of me, in my natural environment.

I was born in 1964 (I’ll let you do the maths). I have written for pleasure (and, very occasionally, for money) for most of my adult life. I discovered HP Lovecraft in my teenage years (when the Call of Cthulhu RPG proved rather too good a distraction from my Applied Physics degree…).

Now, after a career that has taken in defence research, business consultancy and university management, I’m finally doing what I always threatened to do: gather up all my ideas from over the decades and put them into novels to share with other people.

I very much hope you will enjoy my take on the Cthulhu Mythos.
