Hello!

Today I am delighted to be joining the Escapists Tours blog tour for Where Shadows Lie by Allegra Pescatore. I do have a review coming for this book, which is one I’d been wanting to read for ages but unfortunately I’ve been struck down with a nasty bug of some kind and as I want to do the book justice, I’m waiting until I feel less dead. So today I have a spotlight, complete with an extract and a chance to win this fantastic book for yourself.

Book Summary:

The Chosen One is Dead.

Disabled since childhood, his little sister never expected the weight of a crown. Now, she might lose it before ever sitting on the throne. Beset by rebels, scheming politicians, and cutthroat bankers, Elenor must choose between accepting her father’s despotic rule or risking everything for her late brother’s lofty ideals.

Meanwhile, from the rainy streets of Lirin to the scorching dunes of the Mondaer Desert, the ripples of her actions have inadvertently broken a chain of events five centuries in the making. Ancient forces move in the shadows, calling in debts and striking deals. A monster with a thousand faces fingers his knife, ready to kill, and a pair of fugitives run for their lives, unaware of the danger they carry with them.

Where Shadows Lie is a non-stop epic fantasy ride, featuring an lgbtq+ and disabled protagonist and filled with court intrigue, sizzling romance, and adorable baby dragons. Dive in and get swept away!

She can get out of the draft—but only if she saves a lost cause.

To break the curse, Ellie and Caedmon must pass a series of deathly trials and reforge the lost, shattered sword of Excalibur. And unless Ellie accepts her witch magic and Caedmon rises to become the knight he’s meant to be, they will both fail—and the world will fall to the same darkness that brought King Arthur and Camelot to ruin.

Book Spotlight: Bloodlines (AUDIOBOOK RELEASE) – Peter Hartog

Hello!

Today is an excellent day because Bloodlines by Peter Hartog, and the first book in the Guardian of Empire City series is now out in Audiobook! This fantastic blend of science-fantasy and crime-thriller has rapidly become one of my favourite series, and you can check out my reviews of Bloodlines and the second book Pieces of Eight to see why I love them so much. Below you’ll also find an extract to whet your appetites as well as the links to the new audiobook, so please check them out and support the author, and discover a fantastic new series to enjoy!

Book Summary:

Those dark and terrible things from your nightmares are VERY real.

They walk among us, masquerading as your neighbor, your lover, even your friend. You see, Empire City is full of them…if you only know where to look. How do I know this? Well, for starters the name is Detective Tom Holliday. I work homicide for Special Crimes. My friends, what few I have, call me Doc.

And the other reason?

I’ve got magic of my own.

Welcome to Empire City, where magic and technology co-exist, and humanity endures behind walls of stone and spell-forged steel. A place where danger lurks around every street corner, and anything is possible.

When former hotshot homicide detective Tom “Doc” Holliday is recruited to join Special Crimes, he trades in his boring desk job for a second chance to do what he does best: hunt down killers.

And his first case doesn’t disappoint—a murdered woman with a bogus past, her body drained of blood, and two eyewitnesses wasted on the designer drug goldjoy claiming a vampire did it. Armed with a fickle clairvoyance and saddled with a team whose past is as checkered as his own, Holliday embarks upon an investigation through a dystopian landscape filled with bio-engineered vampires, interdimensional shadow parasites, and the magical masterminds behind it all.

But to solve this murder and safeguard his city, Holliday will have to uncover the truth behind an ancient shadowy conspiracy and confront a destiny he never wanted.
