Book Review: Campaigns & Companions: The Complete Role-Playing Guide for Pets – Andi Ewington and Rhianna Pratchett, Illustrated by Calum Alexander Watt

Hello!

Today I am delighted to be reviewing Campaigns & Companions: The Complete Role-Playing Guide for Pets which will be released by Rebellion on the 14th September. This book had been on my TBR from the moment I first heard about – D&D + Pets? As someone who frequently has to rescue dice from the cat, and stop the dog sneaking off the snacks this was right up my street. A massive thank you to Rebellion for sending me an Arc (and dice, because you can never have too many dice!).

Book Summary:

What if your pets could play D&D? And what if they were… kind of jerks about it?

If there are two things all geeks love, it’s roleplaying games, and their pets. So why not fuse the two? It’s time to grab your dice, dust off that character sheet, and let your cat or dog (or guinea pig, or iguana, or budgie) accompany you on an epic adventure! It’ll be great!

…unless your pets are jerks.

Blog Tour (Book Review) – How Love Actually Ruined Christmas (or Colourful Narcotics) – Gary Raymond

Hello!

Today is my stop on the blog tour for ‘How Love Actually Ruined Christmas (or Colourful Narcotics)’ by Gay Raymond organised by Damppebbles Blog Tours. I hope that you will check out both the author and the book, as well as the rest of the blogs involved in the tour.

Book Summary:

RARELY HAS THE POWER OF CINEMA BEEN FELT BY SO MANY, IN SUCH OPPOSING WAYS…

“Love Actually dulls the critical senses, making those susceptible to its hallucinogenic powers think they’ve seen a funny, warm-hearted, romantic film about the many complex manifestations of love. Colourful Narcotics. A perfect description of a bafflingly popular film.”

By any reasonable measurement, Love Actually is a bad movie. There are plenty of bad movies out there, but what gets under Gary Raymond’s skin here is that it seems to have tricked so many people into thinking it’s a good movie. In this hilarious, scene-by-scene analysis of the Christmas monolith that is Love Actually, Gary Raymond takes us through a suffocating quagmire of badly drawn characters, nonsensical plotlines, and open bigotry, to a climax of ill-conceived schmaltz.

How Love Actually Ruined Christmas (or Colourful Narcotics) is the definitive case against a terrible movie. With a foreword by Lisa Smithstead.

Book Summary

Should I tell him about Sushing or play dumb?

Sticking in my comfort zone, I played dumb.

Writer Marco Ocram has a secret superpower—whatever he writes actually happens, there and then. Hoping to win the million-dollar Sushing Prize, he uses his powers to write a true-crime thriller, quickly discovering a freakish murder. But Marco has a major problem—he’s a total idiot who can’t see beyond his next sentence. Losing control of his plot and his characters, and breaking all the rules of fiction, Marco writes himself into every kind of trouble, until only the world’s most incredible ending can save his bacon.

Fast, funny, and utterly different, welcome to the weird world of The Awful Truth.
