Blog Tour (Book Review): The Knave of Secrets – Alex Livingston

Hello!

Today I’m joining The Write Reads blog tour for The Knave of Secrets by Alex Livingston, which is out next month from Rebellion Publishing.

Disclaimer – I received a copy in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own.

Book Summary:

A twisty tale of magicians, con artists and card games, where secrets are traded and gambled like coin, for fans of The Lies of Locke Lamora and The Mask of Mirrors.

Never stake more than you can afford to lose.

When failed magician turned cardsharp Valen Quinol is given the chance to play in the Forbearance Game—the invitation-only tournament where players gamble with secrets—he can’t resist. Or refuse, for that matter, according to the petty gangster sponsoring his seat at the table. Valen beats the man he was sent to play, and wins the most valuable secret ever staked in the history of the tournament.

Now Valen and his motley crew are being hunted by thieves, gangsters, spies and wizards, all with their own reasons for wanting what’s in that envelope. It’s a game of nations where Valen doesn’t know all the rules or who all the players are, and can’t see all the moves. But he does know if the secret falls into the wrong hands, it could plunge the whole world into war…

Book Blitz (Book Spotlight): Monkey Around – Jadie Jang

Hello!

I’m delighted to be part of the book blitz for ‘Monkey Around’ by Jadie Jang organised by Storytellers on Tour. This is Jang’s debut novel, released by Rebellion Publishing, and today I have an extract to whet your appetite as well as the chance to win a copy of the book for yourself.

Book Summary:

San Francisco has a Monkey King – and she’s kinda freaked out.

Barista, activist, and were-monkey Maya McQueen was well on her way to figuring herself out. Well, part of the way. 25% of the way. If you squint.

But now the Bay Area is being shaken up. Occupy Wall Street has come home to roost; and on the supernatural side there’s disappearances, shapeshifter murders, and the city’s spirit trying to find its guardian.

Maya doesn’t have a lot of time before chaos turns up at her door, and she needs to solve all of her problems. Well, most of them. The urgent ones, anyhow.

Book Review: Campaigns & Companions: The Complete Role-Playing Guide for Pets – Andi Ewington and Rhianna Pratchett, Illustrated by Calum Alexander Watt

Hello!

Today I am delighted to be reviewing Campaigns & Companions: The Complete Role-Playing Guide for Pets which will be released by Rebellion on the 14th September. This book had been on my TBR from the moment I first heard about – D&D + Pets? As someone who frequently has to rescue dice from the cat, and stop the dog sneaking off the snacks this was right up my street. A massive thank you to Rebellion for sending me an Arc (and dice, because you can never have too many dice!).

Book Summary:

What if your pets could play D&D? And what if they were… kind of jerks about it?

If there are two things all geeks love, it’s roleplaying games, and their pets. So why not fuse the two? It’s time to grab your dice, dust off that character sheet, and let your cat or dog (or guinea pig, or iguana, or budgie) accompany you on an epic adventure! It’ll be great!

…unless your pets are jerks.
