Blog Tour (Book Spotlight): Hands Like Secrets (The Seven Strands #1) – Mariah Norris

Hello!

Today is my stop on the Escapists Tours book tour for Hands Like Secrets by Mariah Norris. This book has some incredible representation and the worldbuilding, especially the magic system is fascinating, and in this post I have an extract to whet your appetite as well as a chance to win a copy for yourself. Please do also check out the other blogs participating in the tour.

Book Summary:

Saeli has always been different: she is autistic, in a world that doesn’t have a word for people like her.

She attends the exclusive institute of Aschamon, learning to harness her inner qi and preparing to join the battle between her people and their enemies, the Crimson Cowls. But despite her years of work, her teachers still refuse to elevate her to Silver Mantle status and dedicate her to their god’s service.

When notorious Crimson Cowl Rafel Kailar breaks into her school, it is either cruel irony…or fate…that Saeli is there to confront him.

But Rafel is nothing like the Cowls she’s been taught to hate. He draws her in with his charm and reveals his ultimate ambition: to overthrow the gods of Verre and end a hundred years of war. And he needs Saeli’s help.

As she is pulled deeper into Rafel’s schemes, Saeli fears she’ll be forced to choose whose side she’s truly on: her people, who have never understood her…or Rafel, who’d gladly turn her world upside-down to kill the gods.

Hands Like Secrets is the first installment of The Seven Strands, a new adult epic fantasy series that follows a young autistic woman who joins an assassin on a hunt across worlds for a god-killing immortal. Along the way, she’ll have to come to terms with love, loss, betrayal, and the shifting nature of good and evil itself.

Book Review: The Isle of a Thousand Worlds (The Weirdwater Confluence #2) – Dan Fitzgerald

Hello!

Today I am delighted to be reviewing The Isle of a Thousand Worlds by Dan Fitzgerald, the second book in the Weirdwater Confluence Duology which is out from Shadow Spark Publishing on the 15th January 2022. I absolutely adored the first book in this pair, The Living Waters when I read it earlier this year, which was a remarkably meditative book that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about, and I have been counting down the days until I could get my hands on book two and thank you so much to Dan Fitzgerald for the opportunity to read it early – and for such a wonderful second book!

Disclaimer – I received a copy in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own.

Book Summary:

An aging alchemist seeks the key to the Universal Tincture said to unlock the Thousand Worlds of the mind, but she never expected to solve the riddle of her hermetic heart.

A meditation acolyte travels the mystical social media known as the Caravan and finds that the Thousand Worlds lie just below the surface, if she can only learn to see the space between the stars.

This steamy romantic fantasy explores the confluence of the physical and the metaphysical through the commingling of bodies and minds.

Cover Reveal: No Song, But Silence (Wind Tide #3) – Jonathan Nevair

Hello!!

Today it is my pleasure to be hosting the Cover Reveal for No Song, But Silence by Jonathan Nevair. This is the final book in the Wind Tide Trilogy, and is due to be released from Shadow Spark Publishing on the 18th November 2021. Wind Tide is one of my favourite Sci-Fi series and I am ridiculously excited for this one (and I just love the blurb), and I want to thank Jonathan for the opportunity to reveal the cover. You can check out my reviews for Goodbye to the Sun and Jati’s Wager, and there’s enough time to grab and read them before the third book is released!

There will also be a tour for No Song, But Silence in December with the wonderful people across at Storytellers on Tour so please keep an eye out for signups and the tour.

Book Summary:

Can the secrets of a lost philosophy break the cycle of vengeance?

The tide of justice ebbs. A mysterious and reclusive superpower threatens to extend its reach, colonizing new star systems for Wind energy and spreading a corrupt political empire. The People’s Army, once the hope for a new federation of allies in the Arm, has dwindled to a mere spectator in the fight for political control. Ailo’s role in its revolutionary fervor is over. The esoteric philosophy of the legendary Cin Quinti is her only concern now. But when an unimaginable threat sends a political shock wave through the Arm she must weigh the cost of self-preservation, hiding in the shadows as civilization falls to despotism and tyranny.

Light years away on Kol 2, a young librarian grows inspired by a mentor’s clandestine teachings. What he discovers with the newfound knowledge reveals a moral avalanche. The dubious and cruel political power corrupting his society must be exposed, but it will take a leap of faith to challenge an empire.

WIND TIDE: A nonstop thrill ride across an unstable galaxy, combining moral struggle with character-driven adventure.

Book Review: The Living Waters (Weirdwater Confluence #1) – Dan Fitzgerald

Hello!

Today I am delighted to be sharing my review of The Living Waters by Dan Fitzgerald, the first book in the Weirdwater Confluence Duology which is out from Shadow Spark Publishing on the 15th October. I loved the Maer Cycle, and was super excited for this one and oh my goodness I am in love with this book and it’s characters. This is possibly the longest review I’ve written because The Living Waters gave me so many thoughts and feelings, and even then I don’t feel as though I’ve even scraped the surface.

Disclaimer – I received a copy in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own.

Book Summary:

When two painted-faced nobles take a guided raft trip on a muddy river, they expect to rough it for a few weeks before returning to their life of sheltered ease. But when mysterious swirls start appearing in the water, even their seasoned guides get rattled.

The mystery of the swirls lures them on to seek the mythical wetlands known as the Living Waters. They discover a world beyond their imagining, but stranger still are the worlds they find inside their own minds as they are drawn deep into the troubles of this hidden place.

The Living Waters is a sword-free fantasy novel featuring an ethereal love story, meditation magic, and an ancient book with cryptic marginalia.

Blog Tour (Book Review): Jati’s Wager (Wind Tide #2) – Jonathan Nevair

Hello!

Today is my stop on the blog tour for ‘Jati’s Wager’ by Jonathan Nevair organised by Storytellers on Tour. This is the second book in the Wind Tide series, and you can find my review of the first book ‘Goodbye to the Sun’ here. It was a delight to return to this series.

I hope that you will check out the book and the author, and enjoy the rest of the tour with the schedule in the banner below or (HERE).

Book Summary:

A space opera heist brimming with action, twists, and turns that doubles as a story of personal growth, mentorship, and sacrifice.

Ailo is a streetwise teen surviving alone on the remote moonbase, Tarkassi 9. She wants nothing more than to flee into the wider world of the Arm. When her chance arrives, she makes it no farther than the first ship out of the system. That’s where Jati, the Patent War veteran and general fighting the Monopolies, gives her a second chance. It’s an unlikely partnership, but Ailo’s rogue status is just what Jati’s People’s Army needs to drive the final spike of victory into a weakening Garissian Council.

A team of experts assembles and hope rests on Ailo’s skill, stealth, and tenacity to pull off the impossible. It’s a wild gambit, and a moral code may need to be bent, or broken, to achieve success. When an internal shadow rises, casting doubt on their plans, Ailo and Jati are forced to weigh the cost of revenge against honor and justice.

Hello!

Today I am delighted to be joining the Storytellers on Tour Cover Reveal for the second book in the Wind Tide series by Jonathan Nevair – Jati’s Wager. I was so excited when the signup opened for this, because I loved the first book – Goodbye to the Sun (Review HERE), but my only concern was how they were going to follow up to the stunning cover from book one.

By smashing it into orbit it turns out, because the cover for Jati’s Wager is absolutely beautiful.
